BACKGROUND MATERIAL: 

Talex and his twin sister, T'Lex, were saved from sure death during
rescue mission after catastrophic accident on the small Vulcan
scientific outpost in human space. They were the only survivors, the
outpost was completely destroyed as a result of the accident. Talex
and T'Lex were raised as adopted children in the childless family of
the veteran Star Fleet Captain Oleksandr Prokopenko (retired, Earth)
who sponsored them both in the Star Fleet Academy.

In the Academy, Talex was a solid performer, but on the tests, with
several exceptions, did not show stellar results.  Nevertheless, his
superior officers noticed his deep interest and understanding in two
seemingly unrelated branches of knowledge: mathematics/computers and
history, especially military history.  In the area of a practical
expertize, established himself as a proficient pilot of both big and
small spaceships, as well as an expert in computing/information
analysis/cryptology. Alas, his visible disinterest in competition with
others did not allow him to take top place in the class.


PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE:

Talex is a Vulcan but from the very early childhood was raised by the
Human family. Inevitable this created, let us say, an interesting mix
of traditions in his head. He acknowledges his Vulcan roots - in high
school on the Earth he actively searched and consumed any available
knowledge about Vulcan culture. He looks like Vulcan and behaves like
Vulcan. But his knowledge about the Vulcan tradition does not steam
from being raised in the Vulcan environment, but rather from reading
about this environment.

He is very reliable and calm in extreme situations, thinks fast and
comes to correct conclusions, dictated by logic, under pressure. When
it is really important (read - in life and death situations, not at
social events), he is able to take initiative and exhibits true
leadership qualities. His superior officers at the Star Fleet Academy
see in him great potential for truly brilliant career of Star Fleet
officer.


HOBBIES AND INTERESTS:

You can consider his interest in the military history and computing as
a hobby.  For sure his approach to these is more like to a hobby: when
speaking on these subjects, his eyes become a little more bright that
you would expect from the average Vulcan.  During free time in senior
years at Star Fleet Academy, he even tried to create computer models
of some important and grandiose historical military events.


NRPG BACKGROUND MATERIAL:

1. Talex does not fully realize this, but the desire to solve mystery
of the accident on Victra station that caused death of his parents is
deeply rooted in him, even though he does not remember any of them.

2. Another plane of his subconsciousness is troubled by his
relationship with his twin sister, T'Lex, that deteriorated during the
years in SFA. On the surface, he does not acknowledge the problem, but
the topic of family relationship in other families could be touchy for
him.

3. And finally, while genetically he is a pure Vulcan, his upbringing,
especially during early childhood years, is Human.  Basically, he is a
Vulcan who psychologically is a Human but tries to emulate proper
Vulcan based on the material he read in the library... Well, _this_
should be interesting  ;)
