Background Material: Kay in the only child of two career Starfleet officers that loved there lives and there child. She was born in Louisiana on Earth while her parents took leave from Starfleet to give there only child a chance of a child hood without the dangers that a Starfleet Career can bring. Both her parents stood down from regular service from Starfleet and became reserve officers until Kay was old enough to make up her own mind what she wanted to be. Starfleet had a big impact on her life and she developed a strong love for engineering, which she inherited from her mother, to whom was an Engineering office. It was her mother that encouraged her daughter to take things apart to discover how they worked and it was not un-common for this not to work in the Pritchatt household. Her father also had a strong impact on his daughter’s life and encouraged her about the responsibilities of command and life and the sensibilities needed to strive in life. When she was old enough Kay Joined Starfleet, she found it hard at first as did most first year cadets but she failed to give up. Her southern charm helped her to come out of her shell and she blossomed in a second year at Star Fleet Academy. She graduated fourth in her class and she was top of her class for engineering. After Graduation Kay went on to serve on three Starships. Where she proved her engineering skill and was key to several missions saving other lives. Her engineering talent was recognised and she was invited to join Star Fleet Engineering. Where he contributed to many designs. Infact it is fair to say that there is not one designed in Starfleet that she had not had a small part in designing. Her talent was again recognised in her ability to reverse engineer alien technology, and no just current but also ancient technology that DSI might find, and it was not uncommon for Kay to work not just with SFE but also with DSI. In the later years Kay was to be tragically hurt by the death of both her parents during the Second Battle of Centerpoint. Something that had hurt her. Kay’s parents after there child has gone to Starfleet Academy had gone back to Starfleet. Currently Kay is the best in her field who spends more time in the lab than she did before her parents where killed. Kay Pritchatt herself: Kay is a charming and lovely character; she speaks with a southern accent to her voice and contains an innocent charm. Her intelligence shines through, although she sometimes lacks in personal skills in personal situations. She is loyal and can be sometimes demanding, but no-one can fault her sense of humour, if sometimes a little dry.
