Background Material:
Ruth E. Menatti was born in Brooklyn in 2382. She grew up in a nice
neighborhood in Brooklyn with her older brother, Robert. Her childhood was
relatively normal, she was not spoiled and life was not rough for her. Her
family was caring and loving, she learned how to respect other people. Also
she learned to stand up for her opinion in arguments.

After graduating public High School, Ruth studied at Columbia University. Four
years later, she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree. 

Then Ruth moved to San Francisco. Her family did not approve of it, but
finally agreed to her going away. In San Francisco, Ruth went to a medical
institute to become a doctor. In her training, Ruth worked for the San
Francisco General Hospital. After graduating, Ruth stayed at the General
Hospital and worked in the Emergency Room. 

On her way to work, Ruth kept passing the Star Fleet Academy and her longing
for a change, travel and distance increased. To find out more about the
treatment of non- humans, Ruth took several nighttime classes after work at a
local college.

Aged 29, Ruth decided to enter the Starfleet Academy. Her family was not very
pleased to hear that. They believe in close family ties which also includes
living in the same area.

But, recognizing Ruth’s fascination for travel and especially space travel,
they finally gave in.

Ruth is an emotional woman. She is very sensitive and has an ability to feel,
how other people feel, even though they don’t express is openly.

Ruth is very feeling and therefore a good doctor. For her, the patient’s
recovery is most important. She is working very hard to lower everyone’s
misery and pain.

Usually, Ruth is very calm. She does not get stressed out very easily. She
considers things before deciding for or against them.

Still, Ruth has a strong personality. She is eager to fulfill her goals and
wishes. She will not give in if she does not see the point of it. She will
hold her ideas and believes unless they are proven wrong. Also, Ruth is eager
to achieve something, she is not lazy and always focuses very sharply on her
doings.  Sometimes, Ruth surprises the people around her by a very spontaneous
action or joke. Very seldom Ruth acts surprisingly crazy.

Ruth enjoys meals as her father has always worked in a restaurant and now owns
two restaurants. So, eating in a social, quiet matter in a nice atmosphere
always pleases Ruth.

Ruth enjoys nature. She loves to relax in natural surroundings, but she also
likes to sit quietly and read. She is very sociable, too. With a small group
of friends, Ruth likes to have good conversations. Big groups of people, at a
party for example, are not preferred. 

Though she misses her family, journeys to other planets are attracting her and
she is eager to experience adventures. She is not too interested in exploring
though, she likes seeing it all a bit from the background. 

Her geographic, technical and scientific (other than medical) knowledges are
limited.
